Light makes things shine.
Shining things make people happy.
Shining things also make raccoons happy.
Buy lighting. Not raccoons.

A little light going a long way
Lighting technologies are changing on a daily basis. Yesterday I was shown a solar power LED light that does not need to be plugged into any electricity. It generates its own solar power to keep the fixture going for over 30,000 hours.
The New York Times ran an interesting article about some fun things happening in Singapore. Check it out...

Undercover Hacker
The answer to last Friday's post was the infamous "All of the Above". It seems like the obvious answer (because it was)...
I was trying to throw out a free-bee but no bites.. o well.
In other news... Alightingstore.com has just acquired a new Marketing Director. So soon enough she may cut me off from my favorite place to rant (no not that... the blog).
If that happens I will go undercover (no that picture is not me but I will take on his identity) and secretly spread lighting news around the web in whatever form I can...(shhh)

Stay tuned.

Lighten Things Up
If every US household changed their 5 highest-use fixtures to energy efficient lighting:
A) We would save more than 800 billion kWh of energy and keep more than one trillion pounds of greenhouse gases out of our air.
B) National annual energy savings would be equivalent to the annual output of more than 20 power plants, or the equivalent in air pollution to removing more than 8 million cars from the road.
C) Americans would collectively save more than $6 billion every year in energy costs.
D) All of the above
Buy Energy Efficient Lighting at Alightingstore.com and find out.
Or just wait till monday and I'll give you the answer. (shhh)

In honor of our biggest fan...
The aurora borealis is perhaps the most famous lights in the history
of the world. Named after the roman goddess Aurora(whose name means
dawn) the lights are usually visible over the arctic or Antarctic
circles.
A common misconception however, is that the aurora lights are actually
polar lights. In truth however the northern lights are actually
visible over a spectrum with a temperature of 65 degrees to 72
degrees. Their reason for occurring is actually a reflection of light
off the ionized nitrogen in the Earth’s upper atmosphere.
Alightingstore.com also provides colored lighting. Checkout some of
our overhead fixtures to make your own aurora... or just light up your living room...
