Barn Lighting

Alightingstore specializes in what the industry now calls Barn Lighting.  I suppose these folks didn't care all too much about lighting their barn... 

These folks however are very welcoming to Aliens... In fact they installed some of our fixtures so that they would know where to land...

Just a Rant

Today I will simply blog about what is on my mind.

There are certain things that individuals do for all their life and by virtue of their time spent they believe that they are doing what they do in the most efficient way.  These folks are quickly encountered by some younger less experienced individual who wants to change the way they have done things for years.  This is naturally very frustrating to the experienced individual.

Unfortunately, there is nothing to do but cope.  The younger less experienced person is looking at things with fresh eyes.  They are not trying to insult you, they are simply saying: hey! lets try it this way it might work better!

High-pressure sodium (HPS) lamps produce a dark pink glow when first struck, and a pinkish orange light when warmed. Some bulbs also briefly produce a pure to bluish white light in between. This is probably from the mercury glowing before the sodium is completely warmed. 


They are used in areas where good color rendering is important, or desired.  HPS Lamps are favoured by indoor gardeners for general growing because of the wide colour-temperature spectrum produced and the relatively efficient cost of running the lights.

Compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) are miniature versions of full-sized fluorescent bulbs and are 4 times more 

efficient and last up to 10 times longer than an incandescent bulb. While CFLs supply an equal amount of light, in 

comparison to their incandescent counterparts, they use up to 80% less energy. The initial cost of a CFL is more 

expensive yet the total expense outcome is much less. CFLs may be used in most places where an incandescent 

bulb is used.
